Resources for Teachers and Schools
Education, sport and physical fitness are
closely intertwined, with many agencies working
on initiatives that cross over these areas. Here
are a few links to online information about some
of these initiatives:
- Schools have a key role to play in promoting
healthy living. The
Action
Schools BC! initiative has created planning guides and other
resources for teachers and schools to help
create action plans to help achieve this goal.
These and other resources are available at their
website.
- Increased choice and flexibility in the British Columbia education and sport systems is the goal of the
Student Athlete Achievement Project. This
joint initiative of PacificSport and 2010 Legacies Now is working to encourage achievement
and excellence in both disciplines. See their
website for more information.
- The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the
2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is
developing education programming and resources
relating to sport. Check the
Education Resources section of their website
for more information.
- The
Healthy Schools Network addresses a variety
of academic, social and emotional concerns of
students through a comprehensive school health
approach. See the network website for more
information.
