Resources for Parents, Coaches and Others
The following online resources may be helpful
for parents, coaches and others interested in
promoting the positive role of sport.
- The SportSafe
program is designed to create a safer
environment for kids in sport. Resources such as
violence prevention policy templates, a
volunteer screening model, a parents contract
and a coach’s ‘game plan’ are available at the
program webpages.
- The
KidSport™
program is designed to assist children in lower
income families with the cost of participating
in organized sport. Grants of $150 to $200 are
available. Information and application forms are
available at the Sport BC website

SportWeb Canada is a not-for-profit
organization that aims to help amateur sport
organizations by making available a range of
technology tools and resources to the sport
community. Their website describes many of these
resources.
- The
Coaches
Association of BC offers coaching resources such as evaluation tools to help
clubs and associations to assess coaches. These
and other resources are available at the
association’s website.
- The
Healthy Living For Families booklets are
designed to help you make smart healthy choices,
with tips on everything from healthy eating on
the run to being active together as a family.
You'll also find some guidelines on things like
choosing healthier foods and balancing different
kinds of physical activity.
