2006 Paralympic Winter Games

The IX Paralympic Winter Games brought together more than 1,000 athletes from 40 nations. With 13 medals, (five golds, three silvers and five bronzes), this was our best ever performance at a Paralympic Winter Games.

2006 Olympic Winter Games

More than 2,500 athletes from 87 different nations competed at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. British Columbia was well-represented, with more than 60 athletes, coaches and technical support members as part of Team Canada. Canada sent its largest ever delegation and entered in the highest number of events in its Olympic Winter Games history.

With 24 medals, Canada had its best winter games showing ever – which will inspire even greater success when British Columbia hosts the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games

The 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia brought together more than 4,500 athletes from 71 nations. A total of 102 athletes from British Columbia (born, residing or training) participated, making up 40 percent of the Canadian team.
