Here is a selection of resources for those interested in coaching:

  • Coaches Game Plan  [PDF, 253kb] - this document outlines how you can create a safer environment for those you coach.
  • Parents Contract  [PDF, 185kb] - this code of conduct for parents is part of the SportSafe initiative.
  • Long-Term Athlete Development - this national framework builds on a model developed and tested in British Columbia throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
  • Guide to Screening Volunteers  [PDF, 260kb] – this document outlines how to screen volunteers to ensure safety for sport participants.
  • Sample Anti-Violence Policy for Recreation Facilities  [PDF, 82kb] – this suggested policy describes how to reduce or eliminate violence in sport and recreation facilities.
  • Sport, Recreation and Leisure Injury Prevention - SportSafe has developed in partnership with the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit, the Ministry of Health and other partners involved in injury prevention, a resource toolkit that brings together links, initiatives, fact sheets and other information on how to prevent injuries in sport and recreation.
