2009 Premier’s Athletic Awards

The Premier’s Athletic Awards is an annual event that allows the Province to recognize the top female and male athletes from the provincial sport organizations and post secondary institutions receiving funding through the BC Athlete Assistance Program.

The BC Athlete Assistance Program, administered by the Sport and Recreation Branch of the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport provides financial support to athletes who demonstrate the potential and commitment to represent British Columbia and Canada in athletic competition to relieve some of the pressures associated with training and competition.

Eligible athletes are those striving to represent their province at Canada Games and/or on national teams with the goal of being selected to participate in major multi-sport Games competitions such as the Olympics, Paralympics, Commonwealth and Pan American Games.

The 2009 Premier’s Athletic Awards were held February 12 at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver. Use the links below to see photos and bios of winners from each region of the province.
