2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games

In 2010, British Columbia hosted the world with the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler.

Over 5,000 athletes and officials from more than 80 countries participated in the Olympic Winter Games, February 12–28, while 1,350 athletes and officials from more than 40 countries participated in the Paralympic Winter Games, March 12–21.

The Games left a legacy of trained volunteers and a valuable web based resource that continues to encourage volunteerism and access to volunteer opportunities.  VolWeb.ca was developed by 2010 LegaciesNow and is currently managed by the BC Games Society.  The website connects volunteers with short –term, event-based volunteer opportunities.  There are volunteer opportunities across the province - from event operations and public relations, to transportation and hosting.  To find or advertise volunteer positions, visit: www.bcgames.org/dotnetnuke/AboutUs/Initiatives/VolWeb/tabid/409/Default.aspx
