Policy & Research Division
The Local Government Policy & Research Division provides services and leadership in policy development, legislative program management, program development, intergovernmental relations, research and economic analyses. Significant goals of the branch include:
- to enable sound ministry and governmental decisions respecting change in legislative and program policy in all aspects of local government;
- to manage or lead processes able to make the ministry's strategic legislative initiatives successful from the perspective of government and our clients; and
- to help the local government system adapt to the reformed local government legislation and stabilize its new relationship to the province.
The Division is involved in policy, legislative and program development and
evaluation in all aspects of local government.

- Provincial agencies and offices involved in policy development and the annual legislative process

Client Services
The Division coordinates the preparation of government's responses to UBCM resolutions which are endorsed at or following each annual UBCM Convention. The UBCM provides a searchable database of all UBCM resolutions and responses from 1984 onwards, including provincial responses from 1992 onwards. This database shows the disposition of all resolutions, whether endorsed, defeated, withdrawn or otherwise disposed.As an aid to research on local government, a
