Re: LocalMotion Program: 2008 Grant Application Intake
Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 LocalMotion Program (Program) for capital projects
that make communities greener, healthier and more active and accessible places in which to live. The
Program supports projects that:
- reduce community greenhouse gas emissions, with an emphasis on getting people out of their cars;
- advance the ActNow BC principle of being physically active; and
- build seniors-friendly and disability-friendly communities.
LocalMotion provides $40 million, over four years, for capital projects that build bike paths, walkways
and greenways and build seniors-friendly and disability-friendly communities. Grants are based on a 50/50
provincial/local government cost-sharing basis, with a provincial contribution of up to $1 million a year.
Program information including the 2008 Program Guide and Application Package that contain specific 2008
Program details such as project eligibility and selection criteria is available on the LocalMotion website
All available LocalMotion Program funding for the 2007 intake has now been fully committed. Please visit
the Program website for information on approved projects. Applications submitted under the 2007 Program
will remain active if a Project Update Form and updated supporting documentation are submitted to the
Ministry. New applications are also welcome at this time. Please be sure to read the 2008 Program Guide
before completing the Application Form or Project Update Form.
To be considered for the next round of approvals, all Application Forms, Project Update Forms and
supporting documentation must be received at the Ministry by March 15, 2008. The next round of
successful projects will be announced in summer 2008.
