Ted Nebbeling (2001-2003)

Ted NebbelingTed Nebbeling led the development and implementation of the Community Charter. The Charter had initially been proposed as a private member's bill in 1995, and later became a focus of the newly-elected Liberal government. Nebbeling was appointed as Minister of State for the Community Charter in 2001, and chaired the joint provincial-local government council that developed the legislation. The Charter came into force on January 1st, 2004.

Nebbeling began his political career as a councillor and mayor of Whistler. He was elected as the Liberal MLA for West Vancouver-Garibaldi in 1996 and 2001. As an opposition MLA, he served as the Liberal’s municipal affairs critic. In addition to his responsibilities for the Charter, Nebbeling was the Minister of State for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
