Local Government Structure Branch

The Local Government Structure Branch is responsible for overseeing the restructure of local governments in the province. The branch works with communities to achieve local government structures that are consistent with current local and provincial objectives and conditions.
 

Restructure can include the following:

• municipal restructures;
• municipal amalgamations;
• municipal boundary extensions;
• Municipal Boundary Extension Policies Guide (83 KB)
• Municipal Boundary Extension Process Guide (142 KB)
• regional district restructures; and
• rural governance issues.

The restructure program has three financial components under the Local Government Grants Regulation:

• Restructure planning grants;
• Restructure assistance grants; and,
• Restructure implementation grants
