Inspector's List of Disqualified Candidates

The Local Government Act (Act) requires every election campaign, whether run by a declared candidate, an elector organization or certain campaign organizers, to file a campaign financing disclosure statement with the local government within 120 days after general voting day.

Campaign financing disclosure statements are accepted for another 30 days, but only if accompanied by a $500 late-filing penalty.

A candidate who has not filed the required documents by 150 days after general voting day is disqualified from being nominated for, elected to, or holding office on any municipal council, regional district board, board of education, or local trust committee of the Islands Trust, until after the next general local election. See the Campaign Financing Standard Forms Booklet for Local Elections in B.C. (1.2 MB) for information on how to file campaign financing disclosure statements.

An elector organization or campaign organizer that is required to file a campaign financing disclosure statement by 150 days after general voting day but has not done so, is not eligible to endorse a candidate on a ballot, accept campaign contributions or incur election expenses until after the next general local election.

For further information on campaign financing disclosure statements, please contact the applicable local government or consult the Candidate's Guide to Local Elections in BC (1.2 MB) or the Campaign Organizer and Elector Organization Guide to Local Elections in B.C. (1.2 MB).

The Act requires local governments to report candidates, elector organizations and campaign organizers that have been disqualified to the Inspector of Municipalities, who then makes a list of the individuals and organizations who have been disqualified, available for public inspection.

The following individuals, elector organizations and campaign organizers have not met the legislative requirements to file their disclosure statements within the applicable time and are disqualified until after the general election to be held in 2014
