Community Relations Branch

The Community Relations Branch supports the building of harmonious and productive relationships between local and First Nations governments, and supports the economic and social development of communities through client focussed programs. Key activities include:

• encouraging the development of formal and informal relationships and agreements between local and First Nations governments
• supporting the Community to Community Forum Program
• supporting community leadership capacity with the Local Government Leadership Academy
• supporting community awareness of the importance of local governance and services through Local Government Awareness Week
• managing Sponsored Crown Grant and Nominal Rent Tenure applications to enable community use of Crown land
• managing the ministry’s review of community proposals undergoing provincial environmental assessment
• supporting the unique needs of communities designated resort municipalities;
• providing advice on community development tools:
